Four-Momentum by Elaine Walker / ZIA

All of ZIA’s past albums and EPs have been composed exclusively with hardware synthesizers. Four-Momentum was composed with software synths, which have a different sound. This is the first instrumental ZIA release, yet even without the lyrical content it has the always expected space-theme that ZIA is known for. Instead of the usual humans-in-space motif, these songs were inspired by space-time itself, thus the title Four-Momentum. Elaine would like for listeners to peruse the topic of four-momentum and Einstein’s relativity while listening (or roller skate).

This is the first ZIA release since Drum’n’Space (2011), most likely because Elaine was writing a 300 page physics/philosophy book titled “Matter Over Mind: Cosmos, Chaos, and Curiosity,” now on Amazon. We can expect regular ZIA releases hereafter.

A few different equal temperaments are used for Four-Momentum, including 16edo, 17edo, and the Bohlen-Pierce Scale, and one that Elaine had not composed in before – 20edo.
